White star grape in Spain
Lagar de Moha is a family run estate, Angeles Ortega and husband Alberto Moro are in charge of operations. The DO Rueda is situated between Toro and Ribera del Duero, close to the banks of the river Duero. White wine is the focus here, and Verdejo is the traditional grap. The region’s chalky soil, the altitude (700m), the continental climate with cool summer nights and modern anaerobic winemaking produce elegant, light and fruity wines. Cool evenings ensure aromatic flavours and acidity are retained. Lagar de Moha uses biodynamic preparations to stimulate the health and overall quality of the grapes. With quality grapes at hand minimal intervention is needed in the cellar. All fermentations are being carried out with natural yeasts only.
