Premium estate in Faugères
Boris Feigel from Domaine des Prés Lasses owns 26 ha of vineyards, including many old vines, and notably 7 ha of very old Carignan. The vineyards are farmed organically, the focus lies on preserving the soil’s vitality and the vineyard’s natural balance, which in turn safeguard the character of our wines. The Faugères vineyards lie in the last rugged foothills of the Cévennes Mountains, north of Béziers. It is a small appellation grown on a terroir of schist; a poor, well-draining soil. The vines’ roots are forced to plunge deep down to extract the nutrients that define these great wines. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. The estate uses traditional, minimal intervention winemaking techniques. A part from a small dose of sulphur, there are no wine additives being used and the wine is usually bottled without fining or filtration. Wines are matured for 18 to 24 months in rough concrete vats and oak barrels, of which only a small proportion are new casks. Pres Lasses stands for gastronomic wines that age well and transparently express the terroir and vintages with finesse and complexity.
